About Settlement Marketplace Founder Jorge Cortes...
I was born in Colombia.  My parents migrated to the U.S when I was only eight years old in search of a better life in the land of opportunity.  My younger brother and I were left under the care of my grandfather; a man who always did his best to care for us. Although he is no longer with us, he continues to inspire us in so many ways. 

Three years later our family reunited. My parents were able to establish themselves in the little town of West Palm Beach.  We were finally all together again with the addition of a new baby sister.

Now in my late 30’s, I am a proud father of two beautiful little girls; Bianca and Mia.  My parents continue to be my heroes and my inspiration.  I share my home with my soul mate and life can only get better from here.

My background.

I worked as a business banker for Bank of America for three years.  I then left to be a marketing manager for a debt consolidation company in Boca Raton.

Three years later I had the opportunity to work with a structured settlement company where I felt lucky to be part of such a new world.  I felt especially proud of doing so much for others and helping so many people achieve their financial goals.  Yet, I was frustrated not being able to share my ideas.

This is how Settlement Marketplace was born.

We are a team of 10 professionals with one goal in mind - to provide you with as much information as we can and partner you with a list of financial companies in our network whose goal is to help you better your life financially.

My motivation.

Besides the love for my own kids, I’m also a US ambassador of an orphanage in Colombia, Instituto Oscar Scarpetta Orejuela, who cares for 154 abandoned children.

Dr. Oscar Scarpetta's love for children and his empathy for the suffering motivated him to establish the Institute that carries his name.  For 80 years in Cali, Colombia, countless neglected children have enjoyed the benefits of this phenomenal home.   Many have grown up to become productive citizens and successful community members.

Following her father's footsteps, Doña Nohemy Scarpetta de Espindola has transformed the Institute into what many may call the best institution for children in the world.

Everyone should have a purpose in life. Mine is to help the children who need it the most so that they too can have an opportunity to succeed in life. Settlement Marketplace has given me the resources to do just that!
